From Moscow to Fountain Hills – Gary Lvov, Arizona hotel executive, tells his American dream story

When it comes to humble beginnings, struggles and obstacles, Gary Lvov, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Fountain Hills, Arizona , has been through it all. Being born in the repressive Soviet Union, standing in breadlines, witnessing Chernobyl and later the crash of the Soviet economy, Gary never gave up on his vision of coming to the United States and becoming successful.

Gary just recently published a motivational book called “From Moscow to Fountain Hills” about his life in the former Soviet Union, and his arrival in the United States, and eventually ending up in Fountain Hills, Arizona, and becoming General Manager of a hotel..

“I’ve written the book From Moscow to Fountain Hills to tell the world about the nightmares of the Socialist system, how much I dreamed to come to the United States as a kid growing up in a very unstable Russia, and the struggles that I had in the United States when I came here at the age of 15,” says Gary Lvov. He eventually climbed up the ladder in the hospitality industry to get where he is now.

In 1994, Gary’s first job was a dishwasher in a Central Phoenix hotel restaurant. He often slept on the floor of his boss’ office because there were no buses to take him to work the following day.

Through his years of schooling, hard work and climbing the corporate ladder, Gary eventually ended up in Arizona’s beautiful town of Fountain Hills, about 12 miles from North Scottsdale, when his company purchased the local Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites. Between managing the hotel, the restaurant and the full-service conference service facilities, Gary had fully submerged himself into the community while doing many charitable events that raised over $ 50,000 for various town organizations. In 2011, Gary became the youngest ever Business Person of the Year by winning his Town’s most prestigious award.

Through persistence, Puritan work ethic, Gary continues to inspire others and conquer his every life aspiration, never abandoning his undying vision of success.

“I speak at the local high school, and basically motivate the kids in the hospitality class about the endless horizons they can reach if they go into Hotel Business,” says Gary.

Last week Gary met with Bogdan Korichev, a senior at Fountain Hills High School who also happens to be a local movie producer and a native of Russia. Together they will work on a collaborative documentary based on Gary’s book From Moscow to Fountain Hills that will educate kids about Moscow as well as the Town of Fountain Hills. Gary and Bogdan hope that the documentary will inspire students about hard work, academics and physical education that will eventually lead them to get to that same American dream that is attainable to everyone by setting goals, staying in school and exercising the unobstructed vision.
