Helicopter Adventures Offers Flights from Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (PRWEB) June 01, 2012

Helicopter Adventures, the nation’s first and only attraction offering helicopter tours from a shopping, dining and entertainment complex is now offering flights from Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Free shuttles have pick up points on the north and south sides of the 350-acre complex, while the helicopter launch site is located on the western side at 1860 21st Ave. N., behind the NASCAR Speedpark.

Helicopter Adventures offers a variety of tour packages, starting at $ 20 per person for a two-mile adventure that provides a birds-eye view of Broadway at the Beach. Additional tours departing from the Broadway at the Beach location are also available with each tour’s cost dependent upon the length and distance of that tour. Ranging from two miles to 52 miles, flights go as far north as the North Carolina border.

“We’re very excited about bringing Helicopter Adventures to Broadway at the Beach, said Freddie Rick, president and chief executive officer of Helicopter Adventures. This is an extraordinary complex that is extremely popular and its parent company, Burroughs & Chapin, is well-known for its leadership in the amusement and attractions business. We’re delighted that the company shared our vision to make Broadway at the Beach the first such complex in the nation to add helicopter rides to its mix of attractions. Our attraction adds a new dimension to Broadway and its reputation for being innovative, unique and just plain fun.

While other helicopter companies offer independent tours at landmarks like the Grand Canyon and Golden Gate Bridge, Helicopter Adventures is the first to make rides accessible as an integrated amusement attraction at a complex like Broadway at the Beach.

The ingenuity that sparked the idea to link helicopter tours directly with a shopping, dining and entertainment complex should be applauded, said Tracy Edge, who represents District 104 in the South Carolina House of Representatives.

A free shuttle service, provided by Helicopter Adventures, transports visitors from the core of Broadway at the Beach across Highway 17 to the western side of the complex where the helicopter launch site is located. Tickets are available at the launch site. Shuttle stops are on the north side of Broadway at the Beach near Dragon’s Lair Mini-Golf Course and on the south side near Landry’s Seafood restaurant. The free shuttle service runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

We like to add new and exciting things to our popular line-up of attractions every year, said Patrick Walsh, senior vice president, asset management and commercial leasing, Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. With the addition of Helicopter Adventures, we’re able to offer a very unique attraction for a complex such as ours. That enhances Broadway at the Beach’s reputation as the place to come when you’re vacationing. From the smallest child to the most adventuresome adults, we have something for everyone.”

Broadway at the Beach is known throughout the Southeast as Myrtle Beach’s premier tourist destination, attracting more than 14 million visitors annually. During the summer, Broadway at the Beach is the place visitors go to enjoy unique attractions and world-class entertainment. The complex presents free concerts throughout the summer, and during 2012, there will be a spectacular weekly fireworks show sponsored by Helicopter Adventures.

It’s fun each year to see just what Broadway at the Beach will debut next, says Brad Dean, president and chief executive officer of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. A couple of years ago, they introduced the area’s first zip line and took visitors into the air over Lake Broadway. Now Helicopter Adventures will take them even higher as part of their day at Broadway at the Beach.

More information is available at or by calling 1-800-FLY-4FUN.

From Moscow to Fountain Hills – Gary Lvov, Arizona hotel executive, tells his American dream story

Fountain Hills, Arizona (PRWEB) April 13, 2012

When it comes to humble beginnings, struggles and obstacles, Gary Lvov, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Fountain Hills, Arizona , has been through it all. Being born in the repressive Soviet Union, standing in breadlines, witnessing Chernobyl and later the crash of the Soviet economy, Gary never gave up on his vision of coming to the United States and becoming successful.

Gary just recently published a motivational book called “From Moscow to Fountain Hills” about his life in the former Soviet Union, and his arrival in the United States, and eventually ending up in Fountain Hills, Arizona, and becoming General Manager of a hotel..

“I’ve written the book From Moscow to Fountain Hills to tell the world about the nightmares of the Socialist system, how much I dreamed to come to the United States as a kid growing up in a very unstable Russia, and the struggles that I had in the United States when I came here at the age of 15,” says Gary Lvov. He eventually climbed up the ladder in the hospitality industry to get where he is now.

In 1994, Gary’s first job was a dishwasher in a Central Phoenix hotel restaurant. He often slept on the floor of his boss’ office because there were no buses to take him to work the following day.

Through his years of schooling, hard work and climbing the corporate ladder, Gary eventually ended up in Arizona’s beautiful town of Fountain Hills, about 12 miles from North Scottsdale, when his company purchased the local Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites. Between managing the hotel, the restaurant and the full-service conference service facilities, Gary had fully submerged himself into the community while doing many charitable events that raised over $ 50,000 for various town organizations. In 2011, Gary became the youngest ever Business Person of the Year by winning his Town’s most prestigious award.

Through persistence, Puritan work ethic, Gary continues to inspire others and conquer his every life aspiration, never abandoning his undying vision of success.

“I speak at the local high school, and basically motivate the kids in the hospitality class about the endless horizons they can reach if they go into Hotel Business,” says Gary.

Last week Gary met with Bogdan Korichev, a senior at Fountain Hills High School who also happens to be a local movie producer and a native of Russia. Together they will work on a collaborative documentary based on Gary’s book From Moscow to Fountain Hills that will educate kids about Moscow as well as the Town of Fountain Hills. Gary and Bogdan hope that the documentary will inspire students about hard work, academics and physical education that will eventually lead them to get to that same American dream that is attainable to everyone by setting goals, staying in school and exercising the unobstructed vision.

Gary gives exceptional service to this community, and his hotel has become one of the key gathering centers in Fountain Hills. Jerry Miles, Esq Former Mayor of Fountain Hills

Gary electrifies and energizes his Holiday Inn Fountain Hills (, which offers everything from newly renovated rooms to a full service restaurant, sparkling pool, banquets, and breathtaking views of the town’s world-famous Fountain (the Fountain attracts visitors from all over. In the years after it was built, it was even mentioned in Guinness World Records!). There are casinos and many places of interest nearby. The Hotel has special offers and summer rates.

R.D. Olson Development Releases Two Marriott Residence Inn Hotels from its Portfolio

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) May 18, 2008

Irvine-based R.D. Olson Development has announced its sale of two Marriott Residence Inn hotels to Apple REIT Eight for $ 80 million. R.D. Olson completed development of both hotels, the Marriott Residence Inn, Burbank at 321 S. First St., which is inspired by classic Hollywood and Marriott Residence Inn, Oceanside at 3603 Ocean Ranch Blvd., which portrays Southern California’s beach culture. Both hotels were completed last year.

R.D. Olson Development purchased the development sites in 2005 and 2006 respectively. The hotels opened in 2007 under the Marriott International Marriott Residence Inn brand. Since then, occupancy has soared and the hotels each have a 95 percent customer satisfaction rating.

“By placing flags on the site that are geared toward that specific market and adding amenities that fit within the culture of each community, we’ve capitalized on our investments in a short time,” said R.D. Olson Development CEO/President Robert Olson.

The Burbank Marriott Residence Inn is a prime example of how R.D. Olson Development has enhanced the already-established Marriott Residence Inn hotel brand, by enriching it with the flavor of the community. Olson commissioned renowned British artist, Peter Fink to create a spectacular lightshow that scales the exterior of the five-story Burbank Marriott Residence Inn as a tribute to the television industry capital of the world. The interior of the 166-suite hotel exudes Hollywood flavor, featuring artwork originally produced in Burbank from the 1950s to the 1990s.

“We conceived the hotel to be a landmark in a city that is reinventing itself as the entertainment center of the world,” said Olson.

Away from the fame of the Burbank name, R.D. Olson developed the 125-suite four-story Residence Inn by Marriott in Oceanside that reflects the easy lifestyle of a community that is home to surfers, beachcombers and even longtime surfer-girl starlet, Gidget. Original paintings by local artists that echo Southern California’s easy Southland lifestyle dress the walls and a community patio fire pit enveloped by couches give way to outdoor comfort.

Marriott Residence Inn, Burbank and the Marriott Residence Inn, Oceanside were built by R.D. Olson Construction, also owned by Robert Olson. The company is a leading builder of hotels and restaurants alike.

In lieu of the sell, R.D. Olson Development also has seven other projects in the making including Palomar Hotel, Tustin, Calif. and Denver, CO; Residence by Marriott, Goleta, Calif.; and Hilton Garden Inn, Tustin.

The company will soon open another development, the Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo., in which it, once again, has culled from local community culture to build upon an established brand. In this joint venture between R.D. Olson Development and Leisure Sports Inc., the up-and-coming city will enjoy a boutique hotel, world-class fitness center and full-service day spa. Renaissance ClubSport is scheduled to open this June.

R.D. Olson Development was founded by Robert Olson in 1998. It has since been established as a leading hotel developer. Projects developed and sold include an eight-story 174-suite Marriott Residence Inn, Irvine; a $ 62 million resort in the Anaheim Resort Zone, which consists of a seven-story Staybridge Suites and nine-story Holiday Inn; and an eight-story 526-bed University Village Towers, an upscale student housing project bordering the University of California, Riverside. R.D. Olson Development is located at 2955 Main St., Irvine, CA 92614.

Travel Ideas From Hobbies

Article by Stuart Hely

Do you have a hobby? Why not use your hobbies for travel ideas?

If there is something you’re passionate about or something you love doing, that’s a great focus for a trip that will be special for you. Forget the standard tour idea. Sure, if you’re traveling to new places, you want to see all the major sights that those tours have on their itineraries, but use your hobbies for trip ideas, and you’ll go to places you might overlook otherwise.

OK… maybe if you’re a stamp collector, you’ll end up in museums that house collections or haunting post offices, but there are lots of hobbies that make a great basis for a trip.

Do you love golf? I’m not really a golfer, but my brother is. We went to the practice rounds of the Masters Golf Tournament a couple of years ago and had a great time. We had time to explore Atlanta, the area around Augusta, and we made it up to the Biltmore Estate before we came home. There are plenty of great areas for golfing vacations around the U.S. Scotland, England and Ireland are naturals for visiting and playing at world famous golf courses. I bet you can even find interesting golf courses in countries that don’t make you think of golf at all. I remember a funny little course in Bamako, Mali… but…. another time.

Do you love trains? You could splurge on one of the Orient Express type trains that are popping up all over the world. Use trains in Europe to get from city to city. Those high speed trains are amazing. If you prefer old steam trains, there are lots of small historic rail lines to ride. One time we went to Wales just to learn to “drive” a train for a day. (In the U.S. you would be the engineer.)

We’ve also been known to look for air shows and air museums around the world. In Budapest one trip, that got us out to Varosliget (the city park) where we were looking for the Transport Museum. There was some sort of a festival going on that day.

We would never have known about the festival if we hadn’t been looking for that air museum…. and that local festival was lots of fun. The bonus was, the museum was free because of the festival!

Do you love gardening? There are lots of garden tours all over the world. And you don’t even need to join a tour…. there are many stately homes that are famous for their gardens that are open to tourists.

Bird watching can take you all over the world, either with organized tours, or just going on your own. Some fanatic birders plan whole trips just to see one rare bird.

How about cars? If you love cars, you can go see where they are manufactured in Europe… see museums with old Porches, Fiats and Ferraris. There are rallies for great old cars in the U.S. and Europe. Visit Italy when they are running the Mille Miglia and see old Maseratis, Bugattis, Cisitalias and Lamborghinis racing through the streets of cities and countryside starting in Brescia. We watched them zoom past the Duomo in Florence one time… Great fun.

Those hobbies that get you outside and get you excited will keep you loving your trip and keep you fresh for that next museum, so use your hobbies for travel ideas and enjoy your traveling even more.
